Privacy Policy

LAST UPDATED: JULY 8, 2026

Welcome to WideTime. This Privacy Policy is designed to provide complete, word-for-word transparency regarding our data protection standards. WideTime is built from the ground up as a fully offline-first, zero-data-collection application. This document details how we handle information, device permissions, and local storage.

1. Minimum Internet Use for Update Checking

WideTime is committed to absolute privacy. The application does not collect, record, transmit, monitor, or share any personal data, usage metrics, device information, or behavioral statistics.

Secure Read-Only Update Checker: WideTime declares the Android INTERNET permission. This connection is used solely to download a tiny, anonymous configuration file (update.json) hosted on our Netlify server to check if a newer app version is available. No private user data, identifiable credentials, or device keys are sent during this check. It is completely anonymous and secure.

2. Local Database & Storage

All records of your stopwatch and timer sessions (such as start times, pauses, resume times, and total elapsed durations) are saved locally and securely on your own device using an offline SQLite database (Android Room Database library).

3. Local File Exports

WideTime includes options within the Settings Panel to export your stopwatch and timer records as formatted text (.txt) documents.

4. Device Permissions Explained

To run safely in landscape mode and manage background timing, WideTime requests the following Android system permissions. Each permission is used strictly for offline utility:

5. Completion Alarm & Background States

When a timer expires while the application is backgrounded or minimized, WideTime will play a 10-second system sound loop and trigger tactile vibration patterns (subject to your Settings choices). A dedicated on-screen dialog box allows you to immediately dismiss this alert, stopping the ringtone and vibration.

6. Third-Party Services & Analytics

WideTime does not integrate any third-party software development kits (SDKs), advertising networks, analytics tracking tools, or external libraries that collect user data. There are no ads, no trackers, and no analytical reporting hooks in the code.

7. Children's Privacy

Because our application does not collect any personal data, WideTime is completely safe for use by individuals of all ages, including children under the age of 13. We do not solicit, compile, or request any data from children or any other demographic.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. However, because WideTime's architecture remains strictly secure, the zero-collection core of the application will remain unchanged. Any updates to this policy will be bundled directly with local application updates.
